The concert features musical performances by The Fairfield University Glee Club and the Fairfield University Chamber Singers, conducted by Carole AnnMaxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer and the Reverend Charles H. Allen S.J., University Chaplain. Also performing are Sweet Harmony, the all-female ensemble of chamber singers directed by Jessica Jalbert '18, and the Bensonians, an all-male a cappella group directed by Benjamin Bayers '17.
During the 70th anniversary concert, current students will be joined by Glee Club alumni. The Glee Club will open the evening with The Men in Red and Hail, Stag! The concert will also feature Fanfare for a Festival, The Holy City, She Walks in Beauty and The Lord’s Prayer, which will be sung in Swahili. The Chamber Singers will perform Praising Song, In the Name of Music, O Nata Lux, Light Born of Light and more.
The event features a world premiere of We Will Sing of a Dream, which was commissioned in honor of the Glee Club for this celebration and is composed by the Kevin A. Memley.
The Fairfield University Glee Club, founded in 1947, is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus and numbers over 130 undergraduate and graduate singers. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires.
